JiffyCast Episode 2

Well, Friends –

It’s been a little longer than we had anticipated in getting this up.  Been a few technical difficulties in the world-famous JiffyCast studios, what with a dying laptop and all.  Things are back up and running, and we appreciate your patience.

Great stuff in this episode AND some of my stuff.  Authors are David Nye, Adam Renn Olenn, and yours truly.

We also plugged a few online resources, and we’d love to hear yours in the comments below.  Here are the links:

Now, you may have noticed a mention about a call for submissions in the audio intro.  Given the delay in getting this episode up, we’ll delay that until the next episode.  You can always check out our submissions page in the meantime!

Here’s the music in our ‘cast.  As always, thanks very much to all.

Stand By – Technical Difficulties

Hello, Flash Fiction Afficianados!
Apologies for the delay in the latest episode.  We’ve had some tech problems which now appear to be resolved.  Episode 2 coming in the very near future!

June 5, 2013 update

Hello Friends –

Thanks for all of your great submissions.  We’re reading them now, and we’ll be back to you with our decisions shortly.  We’re currently working on the next edition of the podcast to be published this week.

We’ve updated our submissions guidelines to make some corrections and fill in some information to make it easier for you to know for what we are looking.  Do take a peek!

You can now find our little podcast on Duotrope.  Please do report your submissions there – and if you’re not a member it’s only $5 monthly and absolutely the best investment you’ll make in your writing career.

We’ll talk about this on the podcast, but we’re gearing up for some themed casts.  In the coming months we’ll have dedicated casts to ya/tween fiction (please, think outside the Twilight box, we’ve probably had our fill of vamps, werewolves, witches, and the like in that context), Mystery, Horror, Comedy, Sci-Fi, and Fantasy.  The idea will be to have one monthly podcast on general flash fiction, and one themed podcast – so keep sending us your very best stuff.

As always, we’re looking for editors and readers.  If you’re interested in editing, please send us links to your published writing and a brief letter regarding your interest. Interested in recording or producing, please send the same letter along with a link to about three minutes of you reading something either originally by you or in the public domain.

Thanks, amigos and amigas.  You’ll hear from us soon!

Call for Submissions

Hello, Friendos.

The JiffyCast is looking for your best Flash Fiction. What do we mean by that?

  • Really great stories, told in UNDER 1,000 words. Really. Not 1,001 or more. Under 1,000 or bust.
  • Complete stories, with pacing, scenes, characters we love and stories that wow us.
  • Edited, proofread work. Have somebody look it over before you send it to us. If it’s full of typos, bad grammar, and weird-ol’ commas, we’re not going to love it.
  • Stories that take us out of our day and into the world you’ve created-in any genre save erotica.
  • If it’s vampires, werewolves, post-apocalyptic, or zombie-related, it better be a damn good, original spin on it or no dice.

If you’ve got something we love, we’ll read it on the ‘cast!

Send your stories to ben at benfjackson.com
